What is ED?
Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the medical term for male impotence. It is connected with the man’s inability to develop or maintain penile erection for long or at all. It is a problem more common than most men are willing to admit. It can have different reasons- diseases related to blood vessels, diabetes, neurological problems, and side effects of medicines. The cases of ED were reported voluntary and the respondents classified their conditions as mild, moderate or complete. The total prevalence was 52%. The results concluded that the condition becomes more common with age. 40% of males at the age of 40 admit to have problems with male impotence and 70% at the age of 70. The prevalence of moderate erectile dysfunction is 17% at the age of 40 and 34% at the age of 70. Complete case is accordingly 5% among the middle-aged men and 15% among the older generation.

Viagra is the first ever effective drug to be used to treat erectile dysfunction. It was first created by Peter Dunn and Albert Wood in the early 1990s as a drug for the treatment of high blood pressure and ischemic heart disease. The effects this chemical compound had on male virility were considerable. The drug was patented by Pfizer in 1998 and was released to the market. Viagra and Revatio are trade names that belong to the American pharmaceutical giant. Other names that you can find the drug under are Cialis and Adcirca by Lilly ICOS, Ltd., and Levitra by the German giant Bayer AG.
